ABOUT

Murder at Twin Beeches

After six generations of the Jenkins family living at Twin Beeches, a few skeletons in their closet could be expected. But not a body in the pantry.

The fundraiser for the Bucks County Historical Society at Louise Jenkins’s ancestral estate is a sellout. The champagne corks barely pop before a guest finds the body in the pantry.

The police have a theory. Louise, who trusts intuition over facts, persuades her daughter, Amelia Halliday, to conduct her own inquiry. Amelia is at a low point in her life after she was fired as an investigative reporter. Maybe a dead body could breathe some life into her.

She finds a surprising sidekick in an irrepressible, brainy tweener, Winnie Miller, whose parents manage Louise’s estate. With her evidence box in tow, Winnie helps Amelia discover connections to other crimes, creating tension between Amelia and Tony Mardi, a police detective with whom she once had a relationship.

As Amelia digs deeper — and another body turns up — she realizes there is more at stake than solving the murder at Twin Beeches.

As a child, Maria Leonhauser was certain that when she grew up she would live in the Langhorne Library in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Probably because its late nineteenth century architecture looked more like a home than a library and, of course, it was loaded with books. She loved books.

Still does, though now she also writes them.

Murder at Twin Beeches is Maria’s debut novel. She resides in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Her character Amelia Halliday lives in Maria’s childhood library.
